Book Description
For millennia, ceremonies and initiation rites have helped societies survive and thrive by marking life transitions. In contemporary America, except for bar mitzvahs, graduations, and weddings, these rituals are conspicuous by their absence. Written for people in search of their true selves –– particularly those on the verge of adulthood and those at a major crossroads such as divorce or career change –– Soulcraft restores the ritual to its rightful place as a crucial part of personal growth and self-empowerment. Exercises and insightful stories explain how to discover one’s unique gift, or "soul purpose," to be shared with others through a ceremonial event. Drawing on ancient traditions, this vision quest serves as a modern rite of initiation that helps people find their life purpose.

Great Book!.......2007-04-19
If you've never been on a wilderness rite-of-passage before this book offers insight into the practice. Plotkin blends psychospiritual insight on every page. This book is a primer for the ancient practice of the Vision Quest and within this rubric offers a detailed account of the process.
Like Plotkin notes, a wilderness journey into the mysteries of the soul is not a place for the weak of heart. You need to be put together pretty well before answering this call. But the rewards are life-changing.
As metaphor, in the middle ages, gold merchents used a touchstone to determine the value of any gold brought to them by rubbing the gold onto the stone which then produced a certain color to validate the worth of the gold.
A wilderness quest for the purpose of seeking a vision is a touchstone experience. It takes one deep into the raw and untamed soul before its conditioning, conformity, and domestication by culture. In western society, we have forgotten and lost meaningful rites of passage and this loss has created a social fabric of fear based individuals.
Plotkin is well versed in the process of depth psychology and the underworld passage such an undertaking opens in the psyche of those who embrak off from familar shores. Seeking depth, change, and transformation in one's life is difficult and filled with danager. The passage of the threshold expereince is an invitation to risk all for the sake of authenticity and peronal transformation that can lead to a new way of being-in-the-wolrd.
If you think you can sit in a wild place, alone, without food and little water for four days and nights, for the sake of spirit bringing a vision into your life, this book is a necessary guide. Be warned that you may come back (re-incorporation) a different person then the one you left behind at your quest circle. But, for those who pass this threshold, life may also take on a new and profound awareness...
Soulcraft is just what i was looking for.......2006-09-01
This book is well written and easy to understand. it addresses specific issues which confront people in modern society who feel the need to reconnect with their inmost self, as well as offering methods for doing so. i highly recommend it.
Moving Forward.......2006-09-01
This is an excellent book for moving forward in your life and finding your true self. I have felt stuck and confused for many years about the direction my life should take and this book has helped me to change that. The activities the author recommends open your everyday mind to your subconscious or soul as the author calls it. This has been a life changing book for me and is helping me to finally understand what it really means to grow up. If you feel stuck and as though your story has gotten too small for you then it is time to read this book.
Immense.......2006-06-14
I was drawn to Bill Plotkin's book the week it was released. Over time I have gone back to this profound message and taken more to use in my life as I work toward life purpose, life intention. The 'coincidences' of his story are nothing less than the spiritual power of life itself that we all experience every day, if we only take time to decide to be open for them. Powerful truths for heart and soul in these trying years of an old and tortured world. There is peace and hope.
wish I could demand a refund!.......2006-05-27
This book is nothing more than a bunch of nonsense. It contains endless statements making no sense. I was truly looking forward to a book that would be a refreshing alternative to most pop-psychology that's on the market. Instead I got a text that was written by someone who couldn't think. It was full of illogical, unsupported statements and arguments. If I could, I would demand my money back I'm that upset with my purchase.I definitely would not recommend this book to anyone who has any ability to think whatsoever!

For SERIIOUS students of our spiritual heritage.......2007-08-23
The Seth material is an indivisible whole. It is so difficult to grasp in its implications that I feel quite accomplished to have a fingernail- hold on some small part of it. The Nature of the Psyche posts some indespensible chapters. Chapter nine, "Characteristics of Pure Energy" is so clear about the nature of creativity and dreaming that readers will never again be able to think of these matters in their old way. It's that good. It really is. Of course, if you're a reader of Jane roberts you already know this. Do you not agree that Jane Roberts is one of the bravest people of our modern age?
just a great book.......2002-06-20
How we create our reality, psyche, sexuality, dreams, simultaneous time, dimensions, love, and our past are some of the more in-depth points in this Seth book. Although this is just the beginning.
In beginning, my view, this book explains the "nature of sexuality" more completely than any before. I am euphoric Seth shared his opinion because it is a very important subject. Many, many people may be shocked at Seth's view of sexuality, homosexuality, or lesbianism. Seth helped me understand this hot topic much better. Anyone interested in this area should read. This is but a small portion of this book.
Some of Seth's explanations do seem repeated from previous material, however there is much new material. The way in which Seth explains the subjects in new wording tones and sentences are far enlightening. I find there is some great info regarding dreams. In my opinion, Seth has always been outspoken on the importance of dreams. What I exuberantly enjoy about Seth are his explanations of dreams and the dream reality, this is how I correlated Seth's information into my belief of Seth. By having a foothold of my own dream experiences I have correlated them with Seth's view of the dream world.
In addition, Seth can explain how we create our reality like no one else.
Something beyond the words, and the symbols of this book. A feeling, tone, or a transcendence sense that I come away with Seth's spoken, then written words. This perception been commented on many of times within Seth groups, and as I look back and write about this sense, it still feels strange and unknown. Any person having a fond love for a book will understand.
The Nature of the Psyche is not as detailed or long as "The Nature of Personal Reality" but amazingly to the point, the chapters are shorter and gave me an excellent explanation of the topics presented. I like the fact that it is shorter.
I left much out of this review but I do believe this book would be a good starter for beginners interested in Seth's concepts. A+ material thanks Rob, Jane and Seth.
Love, psychology and more--from a very wise perspective.......2002-03-18
Among other things this book proffers a very touching, and original, view on love--in its various manifestations. I cannot recommend this book highly enough!
Not Sure About This One........2002-01-24
I love most of the Seth books, and this one was not too bad, its a shame tho, alot of it, just seemed to be repeated over and over again, till you kinda lose interest. Of course its interesting and has alot of good points, but takes a turn with the constant repeating of the same thing. If your an avid Seth reader, then its okay, but you may be lost if your not.
Seth's psychology.......2001-08-20
This book could be called the psychology of Seth. Where his other books are geared toward describing non-physical reality and it's relation to physical reality. This book describes from Seths' unique higher perspective human psychology and is truly outstanding even among Seth books. I can't recommend this book highly enough. It ranks as high as the Eva Pierrakos channeled works from a human psychology perspective.

Book Description
"C. G. Jung emphasized the deep link to the physical world that exists for the collective unconscious and its archetypes. Our dreams and symbols, as well as the patterns of our behavior, are shaped by the fact that we are creatures of a material universe. Michael Conforti's research has been directed to understanding the nature of these links and patterns in the light of the new sciences ñ quantum theory, chaos theory, self-organization, and the new biology. Conforti's book successfully integrates this material to offer a new, exciting challenge to psychotherapy. It demonstrates that the study of consciousness cannot neglect the insights of the sciences and in doing so promises a unified view of mind and matter."
Customer Reviews:
AN OWNER'S MANUAL FOR THE MIND.......1999-11-09
Michael Conforti builds on Carl Jung's insight that those unconscious blueprints in the mind called archetypes greatly influence the choices we make in everyday life. These personal choices may take the form of self-organizing patterned behavior. It's as if the conscious mind has an unconscious mind of its own. The author demonstrates by way of example in different contexts how identifying the underlying archetype may lead to interventions which have the leverage and potential to change behavior. The reader is shown how distinctions such as mind-body, psyche-matter and subject-object are false divisions in a unified world. Michael Conforti's analysis brings to human consciousness an awareness that we live in unbroken wholeness and that we and nature are one. As a trial judge for 18 years, reading Michael Conforti's "Field, Form and Fate" has given me greater insight into the forces that have shaped the law. It's exciting and a "must read" for anyone who wants to know how the mind works.

Spring Journal heeds the growing call to explore the dimension of depth in our interactions with the environment: the locales we occupy, their features and weather, our fellow creatures (some now imperiled by failing habitats), and Anima Mundi's reaction to our doings upon the surface of the world. Because of the importance of this topic, we are issuing two Psyche and Nature issues together with a wide range of outstanding contributions from leading scholars in Jungian thought, ecopsychology, phenomenology, and other relevant disciplines.

Extraordinary book on the human-nature relationship!.......2007-03-07
For too long we have forgotten that the human relationship to nature and to place is at the core of our psychology! Craig Chalquist's excellent book reminds us that our planet isn't just "dead" matter but a living being in whom we dwell. He helps us understand Terra's psychology -- and our own psyches as well. Everyone who is interested in the growing fields of ecopsychology and ecotherapy will love this book.

Innovative, provocative and well-researched!.......2007-02-13
Terrapsychology is an emerging field that looks at the relationship between psyche and place. It is a natural outgrowth of tranpersonal psychology, ecology, systems theory and to some extent quantum theory.
This field basically looks at the relationship between the psyche and a place. This is not something we are used to thinking about, but did you ever notice how you feel differently or more yourself in certain environments? How being in nature can have an effect on you? How their can be correspondences between internal events and the outside world? This book examines these questions and more from the perspective of depth psychology and deep ecology.
The idea that there is relatioship between psyche and land is not a new one. Jung talked about this and the phenomenon was often explained in terms of our projection of our psyche on to the land. In contrast, indigenous shamanistic cultures tend to believe a place is somehow alive. The theory put forth in this book falls somewhere in the middle, honoring the fact that we are somehow deeply connected to the land and have complex interrelationships and interdependencies with various places that can be interpreted symbolically.
This is NOT new age hype and Dr. Chalquist is a serious scholar who explores this territory from an objective and scholarly viewpoint. If you are completely unfamiliar with this field you can do a web search online for more information. However, you will be fascinated and captivated by this extremely provocative book whether you are psychologist, interested in psychology or just a layperson who find this area interest. It is certainly a must read for anyone interested in native cultures, shaminism and the future welfare of our planet.
