This is a fascinating book. An absolute essential for practising healers, or anybody interested in that field. The author is an extemely intelligent lady, so, I must admit that some of it went over my head, the technical parts that is, but that still does not detract from the books worth. It is the sort of book that you will keep forever as a reference book.

It seems to be a really informative book, the only thing I was not happy about was that there was a stain on the book on the outside pages which covered most of the book. This is the 1st time this has happened, I do think the price was right. They may have stated that,and not sure if I would buy from that co. again.

I guess I am between a 4 and a 5 on this one. It's a good little book with a heck of a lot of info. I honestly like Melody's book "Love Is In The Earth" better (see my review on it). Melody's book gives a lot of info on a ton of different stones, more than most people will ever need to look up. Melody's book gives more info on each stone, though, lots more.

With that said, what I do like about this book, besides the also good info, is that there are pictures of the stones are in color. That REALLY helps recognize them. Pages 1 - 85 also gives tons of crystal info and shows pictures of the different kinds of crystals, at least some of them. I not only finally found out what a record-keeper crystal looked like, but I was actually able to find one in Jasper, Alberta, Canada recently. I am sure the shopkeeper had no idea or it would have been a lot more than $20.

Judith and Doreen also explain lots of miscellaneous crystal stuff, like crystals and sacred geometry, setting intentions with crystals, clearing crystals, crystal care, crystal grids, and so on. Great book. OK. I talked myself into it. It's a 5.

A Good Introdoction to Working with the Mineral Kingdom.......2007-05-09

Crystal Therapy: How to Heal and Empower Your Life with Crystal Energy is a good introduction to exploring the mineral kingdom. The book is well organized and includes topics such as Crystal Care and Selection,Creating Crystal Grids and helpful charts showing astrological and chakra correspondences.

As an Angel Healer I particularly found the directory of crystals with channeled messages from each crystal quite interesting. The writers also provide information on quartz terminology such as 'generator' and 'phantom' crystals which is quite easy to understand.

Those who already have a good working knowledge of crystals may be a little disappointed by the listings in the directory when compared to more extensive directories in other books on the subject. None the less, I think it is still a useful addition to any crystal library and is very handy for quick references and encouraging you to explore the world of crystals even more.

I really enjoyed Crystal Therapy by Doreen Virtue. I am a Reiki Master-Teacher, Reiki-ssage Practitioner, Crystal Therapist, and I love to see what books would be good for my clients to use in order to help them grow with their crystals. This book has beautiful pictures of the crystals, affirmations, and ways for them to utilize the different crystals according to need. It also gives maintence tips, in easy to understand verbage. I would recommend it hightly.

A really great introduction to beginners.......2006-05-03

This is a great book for beginning to explore gridwork, angelic influence, and a basic intro to many stones. Despite the attempt, this book still mislabels several stones, and the information is very limited. Any fan of Virtue is sure to love this book, and it certainly holds a place in any serious collection. Beyond the beginner, I do not expect that many shall use this book.

Something for Psi-Vamp and Energy Worker alike.......2007-07-04

In The Psychic Vampire Codex, Michelle Belanger discusses the experience of being a psychic vampire, and also gives instruction on various aspects of a vampire's abilities. The main focus in all of this is the Vampire House she started, House Kheperu. Despite this, there is much value in this book for non-Kheprian psychic vampires, as well as -and maybe not so surprisingly- for anyone who works with subtle energy. In this book, she demystifies the psychic vampire and reveals it for what it is: a condition or state, whether desirable or undesirable; not a choice.

She starts the book out introducing herself and her personal story, as well as stating that a lot of this work is intended for use by those psychic vampires who are Kheprians. Then she gives a history of the psychic vampire (or psi-vamp) movement, and then about her own efforts in it. She dedicates an entire chapter to an introduction of the actual Codex, including how to use it, defining certain aspects of her wording, and which parts are applicable to whom (Kheprians, other Psi-Vamps, and anyone working with energy).

Then comes the Codex itself, the heart of the book. In this, she gives practical instruction for the psi-vamp about using their abilities, how-to's on various types of feeding, and even the nature of their need for energy. Indeed, she does define the basis for psychic vampirism as a need for energy stemming from, most often, a lack of ability on the part of the psi-vamp to live off most types of subtle energies. This imparts that need to supplement these energies with the vital energy of other living things, most often other human beings. She even postulates that this can give the psi-vamp various psychic abilities naturally that others without that need might have to work for. She even introduces two aspects of working with energy which, while I'd never heard of before, I found I had done many times before in exercises like the Circulation portion of the Qabalistic Middle Pillar exercise.

After the initial Kheprian and psi-vamp focussed parts of the book, she moves on to energy work. And in this part I was most impressed, as I'm not a psychic vampire and couldn't necessarily make the most use out of the Codex. In this section on energy work, she really provides a complete set of basic to intermediate energy working skills along with practical intruction. I think that a few aspects of the energy work as presented by Belanger were depicted in a slightly limiting way. For example, she instructs on how to do a house cleansing, and tells you to do the cleansing with your hands. I've done cleansings by moving energy with my thoughts. Now, while I thought Belanger's approach to things like that were *maybe* limiting, I can see how it would give more focus, and simplicity for those just beginning. The only other beef I had with the energy work she presented was in her treatment on the section on heightening energy. While the discussion about the concept was good, I just didn't feel there was enough practical instruction from the viewpoint of energy working. But overall, the entire portions of the book dedicated to energy work were spledid and are incredibly useful. I've worked with energy for years, and I learned quite a few things from this book.

For the book overall, I really appreciate Belanger's efforts and I applaud her work. She wrote this book in a really nice conversational style that does not get even remotely condescending. In addition, she doesn't dumb it down nor confuse the reader with obscure words and phrasings. From the aspect of energy work, it's not really for the brand new beginner who has had absolutely no exposure to the concepts of subtle energy and working with it. It can, however, definitely be used by the beginner who has at least become familiar with how to move energy. Like I said, I learned a few things from this work, and I considered myself intermediate. This book is more than worth the price.

If you're interested in knowing about psychic vampirism, if you're looking to advance your skills with energy work, or if you're looking for both; get this book!

Its ok..........2007-05-03

I had gotten this book sometime ago even through I don't know exactly when but when I did get this book I was very disapointed. Michelle did an exellent job finding out information about psychic vampires but it wasn't my cup of tea. I was hoping that the book psychic vampireism would at least teach you basic and advance psychic vampiric tecnects to drain the energy of human beings but sadly theres is very little. But then again very few books ever do. I'm just a power hungry man.;)

Throws light on a dark subject!.......2007-01-09

Much is revealed here that really gives ALL who delve into this book an insight into something that many fear. What I quickly saw was that anyone who is a practitioner of Magick can benefit from the techniques that are provided with much elaboration and detail. Michelle goes out on a limb and reveals alot about herself and others like her, so a hats off to honesty, and bravery.

What I feel is that I no longer have a feeling of alienation and seperateness from this subject, thanks to this book. Actually the term "vampire" may even be outdated, although another term is not substituted. You may not be a vampire, or interested in vampires, but like any controversial or "dark" subject, once the time is taken to fully explore the contents of this, you will no longer be ignorant of what it means to be a real vampire.

I can't imagine why anyone in the world would want to be a vampire. A psychic vampire is a parasite. To think that someone would actualy want to "feed" off of another human being is not only unnecessary, but comical. I guess if you want to be a parasite then buy this "book".

Relaxation is key to all life's problems.......2006-11-13

Why five stars? Simple. This book is simple. It is straight foward, easy to use, and safe. Why, after all that has been said, do I claim this book is safe? There is only one chapter on kundalini activation, and it is only in an indirect fashion, that activation occurs. The book focusses on sitting and relaxation techniques. The emphasis is on attentive awareness, cultivated to the point of concentration. There are no techniques in the entire book which would produce any explosive psychic reactions. Taking the alarmist position can be remedied with a perview of antero alli's angel tech, the article on kundalini crackups is particularly enlightening. The main exercise involving the kundalini is the solar plexus charging technique, by which the practitioner concentrates on an internally generated heat until absorbsion of the bodymind process saturates awareness with heat. This experience of laya is an indirect experience of the kundalini energy, centered in the manipura chakra, the center of balance and equilibrium. I suggest starting with chapter one, use the chakra meditation from magical tattwas, or the suhum gayatri from death and dying. Do it fourteen days before moving on. You don't need them to achieve progress however, remember the technique is the goal. Achieving relaxation and self-mastery are in fact noble goals we should all hope to attain in our lifetime, I believe.

Some previous reviewers such as "rain cloud" has declared himself god and has declared other people's pains and feelings unimportant. What he and others like him (and there are far too many of them) fails to realize is that just as a drug might give no side effects to one person, it may give horrifying side effects to another. This is the way kundalini works. Just because you happen to be part of the majority that do not feel any side effects from kundalini, it would ignorant, careless, unfeeling, self centered, self absorptive, and stupid of you to think that other people won't experience it either. In addition, it would be selfish, irresponsible, unaccountable, and even criminal of you to preach kundalini as if there were no dangers or precautions to beware of. You are playing with fire and playing with fate itself. You are playing with other people's lives and potentially destroying lives.
There may or may not be an ultimate good effect to kundalini, but is it worth the hell it can give to some people? Is this a deal with the devil?
Approach kundalini with caution. If you feel sideffects from a kundalini procedure then stop before you hurt yourself real bad. Another big problem with kundalini is that you don't know if you went too far until it is too late. The side effects sometimes takes up to 24 hours to "kick in" after a kundalini session, so if anything, the initial session should be very brief and very light - not the overloaded stuff advertised by this book.
Finally, if the Bible's book of genesis warns of the "serpent" (a.k.a. kundalini ) who decieves you with occult powers in exchange for your own alienation from god, how can you trust it? Gopi Krishna, a well known sufferer of kundalini hell, concluded in his books that there was no God, only a mindless energy that permeates all. This shows that kundalini has alienated him from God to a far higher degree than adam and eve when they were expelled from eden.
This may very well be a counterfeit spirituality. The bible has stated "A tree can be judged by its fruits". Knowing the hell that this serpent can do, what kind of tree do you think it is ? In addition to the physical and mental horrors, a lot of people have reported involuntary actions that make them act like snakes - including postures and hissing ! A lot of people have reported a helpless feeling like an angry demon or evil spirit is taking over their body. Unlike a lot of other things that produce side effects, Kundalini's side effects are known to commonly last a lifetime.
Another example of "A tree can be judged by its fruits" is the character of a lot of these kundalini instructors. For example, if they talk a lot about love and spirituality, yet they often burst out in rages of anger, that should tell you that something is not quite right.
Instead of diving into this risky snake pit of kundalini, I would recommend that you should consult a gifted pastor or individual with the power of Jesus in him.

Ok, seriously...results will vary. Was this book so dangerous as others claimed it to be? Did it hold some magical blue print to a secret system that was somehow hidden away all this time from the general public? It sure sounded like it when I read the reviews on this workbook. All this danger and enhanced psychic powers for under $20 bucks! Truly, "AMAZING"...I thought to myself. So with my anxious trembling hand, I reached over and guided my mouse to the check out button. With one swift click I added the workbook to my Amazon.com shopping cart. Didn't sleep much, too much anticipating. When finally, it ( the dangerous workbook ) arrived. Good thing, reading the cover didn't make my kundalini rise up and kill me.(Just Kidding) Looking inside the workbook didn't make my chakras spin off my etheric body and leave me a hollow shell either. (I'm Kidding ok.) If I paid more than $20 for this workbook...well that might have given my blood pressure a dangerous spike upwards. So far so good. The workbook was simply just that, a workbook. I'm glad I purchased it. It will help with my study on Manifestation.

Kundalini is an extremely effective practice, and it is absolutely NOT something that should be learned from a book. Dr. Mumford's emphasis on fast results, and ego based gratification is a dangerous way to begin exploring your body's energy, and there are dangers in practicing the pranayama he advocates.

This topic should be explored with a teacher-- fast results are not always good results.

as a how to book for the more esoteric practices of yoga not bad,simple and direct explanations & exercises. and yes it is intense but doable.what I find skrewed is mumford's explanation of the yamas and niyamas they are little off. I would refer you to the yoga sutras or the thirumandiram. both are much better guides on the philosopy. bisides that overall a good book

An excellent , easy step by step journey into healing, it talks on energy, positive and negative, Aura's, Chakra's balancing, contains step by step instructions, and diagrams on energy flow, I found it to be an easy read and anyone can do it . cover is different on the 1993/94 edition. Need for Spiritual Change.......2007-07-01

I've read many spiritual books and this one really spoke to me with a story that communicated about both the highs and lows of spiritual life through the touching journey of people at a retreat center. Each person in the story is dealing with their own sorrow from the depression-despair of Logan, Sarah's loss of direction and Muriel's desire to be comforted in her old age. Steven is fixated on his money-making schemes and in order for him to experience growth, he needs to connect to the path of love.

The story speaks of something deeper - a need for spiritual change. It isn't always stated on the surface and you have to dig deeper to recognize that as the central theme of this book. Yet you feel this impulse motivating the communication between teachers and students at the retreat center and the experiences there allude to a deeper bond - to the Nexus that connects us all through our heart where empathy and compassion can grow with experiences of our Oneness. The compassion Logan shows for a dying fish vividly captures this theme. This vision of non-duality is always there beneath the surface though our ego stands in the way of its realization.

The message in this book is beautiful and so I want others to know about it. Through spiritual books like this, we can delve into consciousness transformation and share it with others.

Really Bad. Don't Buy.......2007-06-30

I made the mistake of purchasing this book because it was referenced in a review for The Road (an amazing fiction currently on the best seller list). Now I realize I was probably led into buying it by one of the authors' friends or supporters. The 5 star reviews are bias, to say the least! The dialogue is beyond bad. It is stilted and at times downright silly. I love top quality spiritual writings like "The Power of Now" by E. Tolle or the writings of D. Chopra. It's not that I am spiritually closed, I just know very bad writing when I see it.
This "fiction" is an attempt to flesh out the spiritual teachings of the two authors through poorly crafted, one dimensional characters. I would rather drink flax oil and fast for a week to better my soul than read this kind of stuff. I anticipate receiving some unsupportive votes for this review, and these will likely come from the friends of the authors who have written the 5 star reviews. So be it. I'd rather be honest and save the potential Amazon customer some money!

Thought Provoking.......2007-05-30

NEXUS is an absorbing guide to the dazzling universe of spirituality! Written in the appealing genre of a new age novel I found NEXUS to be a remarkable psychological and spiritual adventure filled with mystery, enchantment, romance, insights, as well as being highly realistic in terms of life's joys and sorrows. I just couldn't put the book down!!!

The diverse assortment of characters were realistic, and the plot was deep, lively and fast paced throughout. NEXUS WORKED AT VERY DEEP LEVELS OF MY MIND TO PENETRATE MY SUBCONSCIOUS AND TO EXPAND AND INSPIRE MY SUPERCONSCIOUS MIND. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!

By carefully reading NEXUS and reflecting on the philosophical insights inherent throughout the book I found that I could tap into my deepest inner centre of being- my inner source of strength, wisdom and compassion...what a discovery!!!

I heard about NEXUS from a friend and that is why I bought the book. I told another friend about NEXUS but she had already just finished reading it and was most impressed.

It seems that people everywhere are suddenly experiencing an intense attraction to NEXUS, one of the most valuable books I've read in a long time.

Spiritually Uplifting.......2007-05-21

Every once in a while you come across a book that resonates at a deeper soulful level. "Nexus: A Neo Novel" is one of those books that touches you through a spiritual journey of transformation of people in the book. Their transformation is an inner one at the level of their heart and psyche.

For Logan Andrews the transformation requires that he move from negative thoughts and emotions to positive ones. This task is fraught with difficulties, since even at a spiritual retreat intended to help people find the centre of their being called the Nexus, Logan is confronted with his greatest loss as he meets his ex, Sarah.

I really liked the sub-plot with Steven, an arrogant millionaire, who at first is irritating but in time he grows on you and becomes an endearing person. Steven believes that money is the answer to life's problems but has he lost his way?

Even though the writers of "Nexus" have their own unique voice, still this book reminds me of other visionary writers like James Redfield, Carlos Castaneda and Dan Millman. I highly recommend "Nexus" as a deeply moving experience of personal transformation whose message spiritual readers will most appreciate.

The appeal of "Nexus" lies in an original story that is fast-paced and chock-full of powerful insights. This book is about transformation as an organic process.

The novel is unique as a collaborative effort by two authors who have successfully integrated their writing into an inspiring narrative. This book explores the ups and downs of spiritual life through the journey of people at a spiritual retreat and we can relate their experiences to our own life.

I love this book for its piercing insights and a memorable soulful journey. "Nexus" reminds me of books like "The Celestine Prophecy," "The Life of Pi" and "The Alchemist" - some other books that I've enjoyed reading.

For those that do not believe or think that this is impossible, think again. Any book by Dr.Baldwin is a MUST READ if you are interested in, or are going to attempt Spirit Releasement. After learning all I can about this subject and participating in, and cunducting therapy sessions, I can say that it's TRUE. After my clients failed to accept my suggestion therapy, I took to sprit releasement and you will not believe the amazing things that have taken place. Is it real? All I can tell you is that spirit releasement WORKS! Yes, this work is years ahead of it's time, but when is it the right time? That time is now as we seem to be moving on a tide of planetary changes in human consciousness. GET IT, READ IT.

Quite Interesting!.......2005-08-21

I just finished reading "Healing Lost Souls", and I must say that I'm not really sure how I feel about this subject. The ideas it contains are quite new to me, and I will need to take some time to digest them...

In this book, the author discusses his findings (as well as the findings of other professionals) that people on earth can be impacted by the attachment of earthbound souls, "dark force entities" &/or extraterrestrials (ET's). The idea being that when there is a weakness in our auras, it's easy for these non-physical entities to enter into our physical being, and impact our lives in quite significant ways.

The author also describes his way of helping these entities move on - a therapy called SRT - where the experience is treated as real (no matter how off the wall it sounds), and the entity is spoken to in a calm, nice but firm way, where it's explained that they are disturbing this persons life & need to move into the light.

Other topics such as past life regression therapy & the history of exorcisms is also included.

Examples are included throughout where the conversations between therapist & non-physical entity are noted, and the change in that persons life after such sessions are completed is discussed.

I would highly recommend this book to those who are interested in the paranormal, as well as to therapists who are unsure how to proceed with certain patients - as 1 or more of the therapies discussed here may be of help. One word of caution though, and open mind is a must!

Having listened to this CD I was not impressed at all. Doreens voice is very monotone and the sound track just ok. I became uneasy listening to this meditation after one listen.
May I strongly suggest Colette Baron Reids CD "Journey Through The Chakras".
I have found no chakra CD even remotely as superb.
Colettes voice is angelic and after many weeks of listening I still find her refreshing. The sound track is heavenly and deeply moving.
Her website has many meditations free for listening.
You will NOT be disappointed.
I guarantee that you will be fulfilled.

Chakra Clearing - helpful for meditating .......2007-05-13

Chakra Clearing was recommended to me to help balance my chakras. I knew I needed to meditate more and was told this CD and book would help. It was more amazing than I expected. It put me in a frame of mind to just let all negative thoughts and feelings melt away. The affirmations are powerful and gave me a sense of total well-being.

Great for beginners, not for advanced.......2007-03-07

Before purchasing this book, I knew absolutely nothing about chakras, yet I had heard about them and wanted to learn about them at a very basic level to start with. Having heard of this book, I read other reviews on Amazon, but still had mixed feelings.

So, later on that day, I went to a bookstore and looked at several different books about chakras. Definitely, there were many that were much more in depth than this one, but even though they were basic in a sense, they were still too advanced for what I was looking for. So, I bought the little paperback version of this book without the CD, and to my delight, it was exactly what I was looking for.

This book covers anything basic that you would need to know about chakras. The small book also helps if you do not have a great amount of time to read a longer book but would like to learn about chakras.

Like I said before, this book is very small and basic, so if you are anything much more than a beginner in this field, I would not invest in this book as you'll need something that goes a bit more in depth (sorry, I don't have any specific recommendations). I can certainly see how those who are advanced would see this book as being worth fewer stars than a beginner would.

As for beginners like me, this book was great and has opened my interest to this subject. Once summer rolls around, I'll most likely pick up a longer book on the subject.

If I remember correctly it was about 4 years ago when I found a book about Doreen Virtue in a bookstore that brings only English books. After I read that book I ordered her tape Chakra Clearing. And as the tape advised I started using it morning and night before going to bed. It was unsual for me to stay on the same routine for such a long period of time as I did for that, I kept doing this for about 21 days more or less. I should say also that a few months earlier I had begun attending a group that once a month met to go through meditation to the 5th dimension to the Archangels and Angels, as Mrs Maria Zavou the lady that taught these trips said. So after doing this routine with Doreen's tape and some of the time while doing it, I fell asleep. But it seems that this worked
despite that. And one day I felt that my third eye had opened I was starting to see there were we had been going with Maria Zavou (her site is www.angels.gr) and I saw some very strange and interesting things. And my life was different after that. I had more questions than ever and since then I have done a lot of searching. Of course I was enthusiastic about Doreen Virtue's tape I lent it to other people in my group and expecting the same to happen to them. But they all told me they didn't have any results, what I found after asking them, was that no one had tried as I had tried to do it for such a long period of time...... not even a week and it all started from the narrowminded perception that this could not possibly happen to them. I was different and that is why it happened to me they didn't believe in their selves and they limited themselves. So later when the book with the dvd came I bought it again in order to have the book and the dvd together. And another thing when I tried to talk to them about Doreen Virtue and her books they said they found them very simple but the truth that they are simple but they work.

In this catagory of books, Energetic Boundaries is the first audiobook that I have ever been able to say with complete confidence that "it did absolutely nothing for me but offend me". I especially did not appreciate Karla McLaren's judgement in CD 5 of: Dispelling the "all one" "myth". She may see it as a "myth" but that doesn't mean that it is a myth to ALL people. I even contacted the publishers of this audiobook (Sounds True) with my disappointment and they apologized and even sent me another audiobook CD set from another author of my choice free of charge.
Karla often had a note of sarcasm and laughter in her tone of voice and at times reminded me of a person who was trying to please a crowd/audience rather than be authentic and real. Equality and respect for all was not part of her vocabulary and she reminded me of a person who felt like she was the teacher of a 1st grade class with an attitude like you were here to learn from HER the "correct" way, and that there was nothing for HER to learn from YOU. Right from the very beginning her approach was an "I'm going to make myself comfortable" approach with no kind of real invitation for the listener to interpret her "knowledge" however they felt comfortable with. It was basically a "this is my way" attitude with no real desire to ask "but what is yours" I did not feel any kind of genuine openness from her to see that not everyone connects with Spirit in the same way that she does and that some people might actually feel offended with her talk of Jesus Christ. She tried to come across like she was all inclusive of everyone's beleifs but her underlying message was based on a Christian viewpoint. And even if prayer is the "proper" way to begin a healing session for her, everyone does not connect with Spirit through the same kind of "prayer" that she does. I have a very strong connection with God but it is not a Christian God; and since it did not mention in the advertised description of this audiobook that she would be presenting this information from more of a Christian veiwpoint and from a more "I'm the teacher" approach, I did not appreciate her attitude and style of speaking or her sarcasm. I am more in line with Lynne McTaggart's Living the Field but I never invade someone's personal space like I felt Karla did for me with comments that implies that "this is the 'correct' way to do something". I feel like all people are unique and of value to the world, all of us have something special to contribute, not just one.

Her tape, "Healing for Healers: How to Give Without Giving it All Away" is also available through Amazon. In my opinion it has all the best ideas from the CD at less than a quarter of the price.

Practical Training in Meditation & Visualization.......2007-06-10

I am finding the cds very helpful and enjoyable as well. Different personality types are fully explicated across an array of typing systems. The benefits and risk factors for the types are explained. Steps for healing (e.g., from burnout) are the focus of the series. I've find the author's "voice" to be highly compassionate, toward self and toward others. The examples from her own life make the teachings highly accessible. I enjoy that she appears to practice what she preaches: her "type" needs many artistic and creative outlets, and each cd begins and ends with her singing. If you tend to do or give "too much" and feel "drained" afterwards, these practices are for you! You will learn to give to yourself, as well as others, so you don't "give out".

Still very valuable ideas.......2005-12-02

Karla was uneasy with the guru seat many tried to place her in, so she stepped down. The backlash began. Just because she questioned being made into a guru does not mean her techniques are useless.
If you are in need of some techniques for grounding and replenishing your psyche these are still very VALID. There are not many places where you can get this info or learn these techniques.
Single biggest thing is you will learn simple imaginagitive ways to focus, ground and hold your own in times of great stress.

Outstanding clarifying of energetic boundaries........2005-10-09

I recommend this series to any highly sensitive, spiritual people who work in the fields of therapy, teaching, or bodywork. Her work is very grounded in the five elements, thus the incorporation of three separate cosmologies. Highly effective in helping the listener create 'sacred space,' heal and do grounding/boundary work around trauma, and just manage our own boundaries and energetic fields. Sound, helpful, practical advice delivered with compassion, insight, and humor.

Personal energy: it's uses and misuses .......2007-03-26

I chose this book for my Metaphysical Discussion Group. I bought it originally to learn how to block people that try to access my energy without my permission.

We all know these people. The guy at work that gets in your face and talks really loud and fast so you can't hold your own in the conversation. The woman that stops you in the hall to gossip about your co-workers and cause dissent. The family member that calls to complain about the fact that you don't call them. These are all techniques that psychic vampires use.

We've all walked into a room and noticed the mood of the group. Sometimes, although not a word is said, it's obvious that everyone is stressed, or sad, or expectant. Mob behavior is another manifestation of sharing energy. People that would never riot or attack another person, do so because they are overwhelmed by the emotions that those around them are giving off.

Many abusive relationships are a result of psychic vampirism. The dominant person controls the other by withholding positive energy except for short periods of time to keep the person "hooked'.

There are positive examples of sharing energies also. For example, a mother and her infant are sometimes so closely linked that she knows when the baby needs her. I know personally one mother that woke in the night in a panic, ran to the babies crib, and found him totally blue. She screamed and he woke up, probably just in time. The next day they found out he had SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), and he had to wear a monitor for over a year to keep from slipping away in his sleep. Negative experiences have been known to dry up a mother's milk.

We all live each day with our own emotions, but we also live with the emotions of others.

This book explains what psychic vampirism is, teaches how to spot the energy vampires in our lives, how to block them from both taking energy without our permission and feeding us negative energy, and to make sure we aren't violating anyone else's energy!

There are a few self-tests and many 'how-to' examples for protection and strengthening out energy. It is excellent for personal use, or a discussion group.

What a waste of time..........2006-06-11

Where exactly should I begin with this review? Well, this book is a one that is written by a person who portrays him self as a very prejudice (depending on how you view things a racist too) person through the writing contained in this book. He writes this book as a person who's only experience with a psychic vampire is his aunt, who is a shady charater to begin with, who is claimed to have discovered eternal life: vampirsism. He uses his "personal experiences" whith her and a viewing of her extraordinary powers as his fuel for his vampire burning fire. He claims that psychic vamprism is a disease that affects the mind in that it creates a need for energy. But what his aunt discovered, according to him, was the powers to extinguish candles from accros the room and make objects levitate. If psychic vamprism was a disease that gave PK (psycho-kinesis)powers, then I think this would be more of a mutation. So I could say many more bad things about this book, but there is one silver lining in this cloud. The only redeeming value to this book is some of the protection techs. They can be handy at times. But over all this book is not worth buying, maybe borrowing from a friend for the protection techniques. Over all, this book felt like it was an excuse for an author to express his hate for his aunt, his "psychic vampire" relative, and all those who are "plagued" by vamprism.

Slate doesn't cover all the bases with this book........2006-04-30

While this book is very effective in strengthening a person's energy system, and may help in providing basic defense against unconcsious psychic vampires, it doesn't provide the reader with a way to defend themself against a psychic vampire who is conscious of his/her 'ability'. In this case, the book actually opens one up to psychic attakc by providing a vampire with higher quality energy to feed from. And shielding is useless against psychic feeding, as it merely concentrates the energy outside of the body, making it EASIER to take. I wouldn't take this book TOO seriously.

This book got only a 3 stars because even though it gave some good insight and how to protect our self from many types of energy sucking Vampires it just didnt have enough to keep me glued to the book.

Interesting Topic but Lack of Evidence.......2004-02-21

This book explores a phenomenon termed "psychic vampirism". Specifically, it deals with people who limit the energy and auras of others via vampiric tendencies that sometimes augment their own energy and aura. Amazing. However, the author does not cite a lot of evidence to support his claims. As a Ph.d. I would imagine that he would be accustomed to supporting all of his claims with facts. The problem with this book is that while there are some intriguing clues into psychic vampirism, the author combines reincarnation, astral projection, aura viewing, crystal healing, etc. without really proving any of them. There are some very interesting photographs of auras. The author should've provided more of that type of information instead of going from one claim to the next without really proving the vast majority of them.
