Ancient and Obsolete.......2007-04-23
The beauty of general relativity (GR) lies in the connection it provides between geometry and physics. Weinberg's algebraic approach completely obscures this connection. Instead Weinberg teaches how to crank through complex calculations without any insight or geometric intuition. It is a fairly good book when compared to Misner-Thorne-Wheeler (another ancient text). However, by modern standards, Weinberg's book leaves much to be desired. Having been published in 1972, the book lacks modern examples in cosmology and quantum gravity. It also lacks a proper introduction to differential geometry and makes no mention of topology or other mathematical ideas prevalent in current GR research. In the 35 years since its publication, it has been surpassed by many much better books. For an excellent introduction to GR, read Carroll's book. For a more rigorous study of GR read Wald's book. For an easy introduction to GR, read Schutz's book.
Unique,Idiosyncratic Approach.......2006-09-15
Flashback to 1979.I Purchased Weinberg's Gravitation book and
Misner,Thorne, Wheeler's Gravitation book, simultaneously. Back then it took four weeks to get hold of a book by mail. The waiting made it all the more special when the books finally arrived. I still have those same two worn copies. Still re-read each. Sure, they are different viewpoints of General Relativity.
But, how greatly they both enrich the world. Together, those two
books started a pedagogic revolution. Weinberg has no
equal, cherish this book. Cherish MTW, also.
A great book by a great physicist.......2006-04-09
This is the best book written on general relativity, and I have read or at least looked at nearly every one of them. It is better than Wald's book because Steven Weinberg is a better physicist than Robert Wald. The only people who will not be pleased with it are those mathematicians who are looking to physics for elegant mathematics and not for physical insight.
A virtue of this book is that so far as I can see Weinberg has thought through general relativity for himself, and he has worked through all of the derivations himself - certainly the ones that I have checked - rather than quoting others.
This is not always the case for books in physics. Weinberg is careful, and I have yet to find an error in the book.
Superlative.......2004-12-14
Weinberg's writing is fantastic--direct, precise, and inspiring. His minimalist yet comprehensive approach, basing GR on nothing but the absolute necessities is beautiful. Virtually every word in the book is necessary and sufficient.
For GR, Weinberg's book is first among equals. Other reviews have critiqued his mathematics as old (Einstein's methods)--so what? It's easier and centerpieces the physics. Weinberg does well at making the complex as simple as can be reasonably made, a mark of a great expositor.
Old book that is hostile to the spirt of G.R........2004-12-08
There was a time when this book was probably very authoritative and useful (though I can't see myself preferring it over Hawking and Ellis, even then). Put it out of your mind: that time is gone. There are a slew of much better, much more modern books out there. Furthermore, this book is written from a perspective that attempts to filter a huge chunk of the geometry out of G.R., sullying a lot of the beauty of Einstein's central idea. If you are interested in cosmology, you can do a lot better looking at Hawking and Ellis, or one of the more recent books that will, due to their newness, emphasize the numerous advances in cosmology since the 70s. If you are interested in Relativity, PLEASE look at Schutze (beginner) or at Wald (graduate). Don't waste time and energy on this book.
That being said, there are some interesting advanced topics here, and a few things that I haven't seen elsewhere. This can be a useful reference for a researching relativist.
Book Description
Einstein's standard and battle-tested geometric theory of gravity--spacetime tells mass how to move and mass tells spacetime how to curve--is expounded in this book by Ignazio Ciufolini and John Wheeler. They give special attention to the theory's observational checks and to two of its consequences: the predicted existence of gravitomagnetism and the origin of inertia (local inertial frames) in Einstein's general relativity: inertia here arises from mass there.
The authors explain the modern understanding of the link between gravitation and inertia in Einstein's theory, from the origin of inertia in some cosmological models of the universe, to the interpretation of the initial value formulation of Einstein's standard geometrodynamics; and from the devices and the methods used to determine the local inertial frames of reference, to the experiments used to detect and measure the "dragging of inertial frames of reference." In this book, Ciufolini and Wheeler emphasize present, past, and proposed tests of gravitational interaction, metric theories, and general relativity. They describe the numerous confirmations of the foundations of geometrodynamics and some proposed experiments, including space missions, to test some of its fundamental predictions--in particular gravitomagnetic field or "dragging of inertial frames" and gravitational waves.
Customer Reviews:
An Introduction to General Relativity?.......2004-01-22
John Archibald Wheeler does not need any introduction, neither by me, nor by anybody else:he is simply the greatest living authority on General Relativity! This book, written together with Ignazio Ciufolini,is as interesting as all his other books, and is well worth the price, despite what our friend Johngorno says!!
However,Johngorno is right in one respect:when the authors say ,in the Preface(page ix),that the "book may be used as an introduction to general relativity..." ,they are misleading the prospective reader! As a matter of fact ,if you have not had at least an introductory course in GR ,such as "A first course in General Relativity" by B.F. Schutz, don't even think about reading this book.Even the Mathematical Appendix at the end is not enough for someone not familiar with tensor calculus. The unaware reader who reaches page 21 ,for example,is hit on the head with the expression giving the Christoffel symbols as a fuction of the metric components: how is he or she supposed to guess that the comma represents a partial derivative, that sigma is a dummy index ,and therefore that there is a sum involved in this expression? He or she might turn to the mathematical index ,which will direct him or her to the Appendix, page 427,but this won't help much:the summation convention is not explained there, but at page 425,and in a very unconspicuous fashion!
So,albeit a great book on gravitation theory and experiment, this is definitely not an introduction to Einstein's theory of gravitation. It is rather aimed at the real "cognoscenti" in the field.
Having talked about the book's content, which is nothing short of outstanding, let us now turn to the form.To start with, the pictures are quite poor for a book priced at more than $90!And the paper is not that good either.
Finally, there are a few typos, which is no big deal, and some French spelling mistakes(e.g on pp.19 and 80,the proper spelling for the "fundamental memoir" by Ricci and Levi-Civita should be as follows:"Méthodes de calcul différentiel....etc".This is also excusable owing to the fact that one of the authors is American and the other Italian! And I do hope that one of them(if not both!) reads this review...
Don't Waste Your Money.......2002-04-04
I purchased my copy used (20$) and (after my initial delight at the bargain) was disappointed. I had hoped for a more technical intermediate-level expansion of Wheeler's intriguing but vague "Journey into Gravity and Spacetime." This book is instead largely a hodge-podge of specialty articles of interest only to advanced professionals in the field. Unless you have money to burn, invest it in another text, like "Gravitation," by Thorne, Wheeler, etc., which isn't great but is useful.
the book was great.......1999-05-06
This book tought me a lot about the physics of gravitation and inerti

interesting.......2007-09-22
I omly liked a couple of the stories, the bishonen one was my favorite. I thought the art for the most part was average -- not bad, but nothing to impress me. I love that this kind of thing exists though. We should encourage our own manga artist as much as we can.
OMG...WONDERFUL.......2007-05-13
If you're a fan of the series...you don't WANT this book, you NEED it!!! It is so incredible. Murakami keeps the story alive in true fashion with plot twists and Yuki angst. If you haven't read these books yet you better get started!
When does EX vol 2 come out?!!.......2007-04-16
I LOVE the Gravitation series!!! EX continues the fun. I want to see more of Shu-chan fling! (ups! spoliler there), and yes, I agree with everybody, the characters look too young and Tatsuha IS over tanned. I wish Murakami San made the characters look more their ages. I didn't like the shrinking and the new look of Shu-chan at the end of the original series-too femenine-. His looks have improved in EX vol 1 but I preferred his height and appearance at the beginning of the original series. It was more his age and gender. What's wrong with guys being guys? Anyway, Tohma in nurse outfit deserves a cross dressing medal!. Eiri's new look: great!, he's the only one who somehow seems to avoided the youth potion : )I don't like Reiji, I think the story could do without her. There is enough action, humor and romance to make one re-read the story at least 10 times without it getting old. I'm looking forward to EX vol 2 and the rest of it!!!!. How about Ryu's look? He was on the cute bunny side at the beginning of Vol 1, but we get to see more of his sexy pop-idol looks at the end of the volume, let's see if it continues like that in vol 2.
How about translating/dubbing the drama CDs? Wouldn't that be a blast? There are 3 of them in the market!
My...my god...........2007-04-15
Okay. I LIKED Gravitation the original series. Maybe it didn't end very satisfyingly but it had that open-ended make-your-own-conclusion thing going on, with nice touches like Tohma getting along with his wife and Reiji taking care of her own business. I was wary, but HAPPY when I heard about Gravi-Ex. I thought maybe it'd have a semi-cohesive plot with all the Gravi wackiness, but with a sincere effort to show what might really become of the struggling couple's future.
The novels were horrendous. And now there's this, which won't even spare us the agony by ending quickly and instead actually being a new SERIES, apparently.
I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE AUTHOR WANTS TO BEAT THIS SERIES TO DEATH.
There is NOTHING that even suggests that she tried to have this make sense. If anything, it's just there because the fans wanted it, and it looks like the author figured, hey, since people are going to buy it anyways, why bother THINKING about it? The random events, so delightful before, are now just a waste of space. They lack the charm of the originals by being inane and and more baffling than funny. on the main pair's relationship, the way they handle it they might as well make an official press release annoucning "romance is DEAD." not nice considering they already spent 12 books trying to make each other feel something.
OH! and the Fanservice! The Cameos! A gay couple "raising" a KID! They might be attention magnets, but it'd be nice if someone followed up on them! That kid that's supposed to be such a big deal according to the blurb? Well, apparently no one else seems to think so. They basically ignore him outside his intro to have some fun with pairings that could have been picked out of a yaoi fanfiction forum.
And then there are the drawings...nothing WRONG with em, I guess, only people are really starting to look alike. Teeangers and middle aged men and real toddlers all get baby faces and the same droopy mop of hair. The style in the 12th Gravi book was just more dignified.
My mind suffered. Not in the usual whoohooGravi! of bizarre crack fun way but in a oh my god why are they doing this to me wwwwhhhhhhyyyy way. The author voluntarily forfeited all she'd built up with the first series, deciding to start over with from-scratch personalities and a big pile of stupidity. As a fan, I hurt. Preserve your image of Gravitation. Don't buy Ex.
Icha Icha Gravitation Ex.......2007-04-09
This is actually the first manga that I've bought in over five years. I wasn't really sure how well the insanity from the anime could be conveyed when I first picked it up but after five minutes of uncontrolled giggling at reading a sneak peak I decided to get a copy. People who have only seen the anime should know that there is quite a bit of manga-only plot in the sequel but it's definitley worth every penny. I found myself going back to read the rest of the series during the course of the next week. Many friends asked me if I was going for a Kakashi (from Naruto) impression when I started walking down the halls with my face buried in manga and randomly giggling at the sights of Tohma in a nurses uniform (complete with perky cap) and Shuichi as a BDSM french maid (lol). Scenes go from being romantic to agnsty to gut bustingly funny in a rollercoater ride that leaves you excited for more. I can only hope that more volumes will be released soon. For now I'm continuing my Kakashi impressions with a twentieth read.

Though I give the translation a 3........2005-11-09
Murakami-sensei's art has improoved munches since she started. The translations are funny, but the American references suck! They ruin the humor completely. A great deal of manga readers will already know about the original Japanese references & those who don;t need to get with it. You can't get by on manga without taking in tons of cultural tidbits in a lengthy period of time. Also, this volume's sidestory is Remix Gravitation 8.5, the most confusing of the series (why did K have short hair?)
It's Gravitation.......2005-07-18
Art is one thing that throws me off a Manga. And the art is horrible. Though alot more graphic then the Anime (which is upsetting), I think the Anime wins hands down. The Manga is lacking in a few things and it's confusing but still worth it for a Fan of Yaoi.
I love it!.......2005-01-02
This is actually the first Gravitation book I've read, but I've seen all the anime. First off, the anime and the manga are not really the same thing - the premise is the same, but the plots have several differences (none of the events in this book are in the anime) and even the personalities of some of the characters don't always seem to match up (is it just me, or does Eiri seem sweeter in the manga?
). In this book, everything seems right in Shuichi's world - his record hits Platinum and his relationship with Eiri is actually going pretty well. Unfortunately, Shuichi's boss, Tohma Seguchi, ruins it all by telling Shuichi to choose between Eiri or his band. Shuichi becomes convinced that Eiri is in love with Tohma. In this book, Shuichi is also, er, brought to America.
I enjoyed Shuichi, even though he seems a little more flighty in the manga than he was in the anime, but I have to say that I'm a big Eiri fan. There are a few absolutely adorable Eiri scenes in this book, my favorites being the ones with the print club stickers - if Eiri could just bring himself tell Shuichi what he's thinking when he looks at the sticker, their relationsip would be a lot less rocky. Then again, Shuichi would also be annoyingly mushy all the time. Anyway, I not only love the story, I love the artwork as well. There are both gorgeous guys and pretty girls, something for everyone! :) I highly recommend this volume, although it would probably be a good idea either to have read earlier volumes or seen the anime, so that you know about Eiri's past and how his relationship with Shuichi usually functions. Also, a quick note, if gay relationships disgust you, this is probably not the manga for you. I've heard others say that even people who don't approve of such relationships would find themselves liking this series, but, after reading some reviews of other manga series with same sex relationships, I'm not so sure.

Way better on the second reading........2005-11-11
I read the preceding six volumes and loved them, but I found this one cluttered. The plot jumped all over the place. It bugged me a bit how all the silly stuff started to get in the way of the main storyline, especially the scene where they're trying to get past all the paparazzi and fans to get to the date. That dragged on a bit too long. It's good, but it gets driven into the ground a bit.
HOWEVER, once I'd read the whole thing and knew what was going on in those scenes, I could skip back through the book and read only the parts that focused on Shuichi and Eiri, and when you do it that way, it's the best book in the series so far.
Who knows, perhaps I just had less patience for the humor scenes because I was reading it at 3AM and I really wanted to go to bed, but I just couldn't put the book down. Which obviously means I was enjoying it.
So yes, this book is totally worth it. The whole series is worth it. This is the first series I've liked enough to even think about buying. (I'm not one of those ppl who's obsessed with anime, I usually only see it at my friend's house, cuz she and her sisters are really into it. I think it's fun, but I don't go out of my way. She lent me the Gravitation OVA cuz she thought I'd like it, and I fell in love.)
It's Gravitation.......2005-07-18

I have to keep this short...
For the record, not everyone in this manga is gay. And no, Shuichi doesn't wear those outfits(the ones on the cover) because he is gay. Sheesh...
I love Gravitation. It's one of the funniest mangas I've ever read. It's also the only romance manga I've read but nevermind that.
Also, what I really like about Gravitation is the lack of sterotypes, you know the ones seen on certain tv shows... It's just about guys who happen to be attracted to each other and not worry about sexuality. It's sincere!!!
If you're homophobic you probably don't want to read this but it would open up your mind. Learn a thing or two!!!
Okay, I'm done.
...bloody funny to me....::shrugs::.......2004-12-12
...no one's been leaving any reviews for awhile, so why not? I have to say this is the funniest d*mn manga I've come across, Fushigi Yugi not withstanding. To be able to enjoy it, however, without cringing at the utter insanity, there's something you need to understand at first.
Maki Murakami is one crazy psycho. You can tell from her info blurbs and random babbles that she's no Naoko Takeuchi. She's perfectly insane. And so is this manga. We've got sex, alcohol, rabbits, and rock n' roll. What more do you want outta anime? It's like that new Gwen Stefani album...if you don't go into it looking for the meaning of life, and not expecting it to be really deep and insightful, it's fun, completely nonsensical, and improbable. In a good way.
On the downside, don't buy this if you're a raging homophobe, because half the cast is 'flaming', if you catch my drift...and I wouldn't buy it for your 13-year old granddaughter, because the language is through the roof. However, the date scenario in this one is the definitive reason for buying it. It just is. Ciao!

Customer Reviews:
Awesome Series!!.......2007-03-09
I love the series! It's so interesting that it makes me want to never put down the book. I have to keep reading, it's that good.
I've been hooked into the manga series, and I'm considering buying the rest of the volumes. The artist/author's story is so greatly written, you'll be hooked into it like me and other fanatics of the series.
One thing, though, which greatly confuses me, is when people say the art is "awful". I don't get it. I think that the art is very professional, and very good. I admire the way the books are drawn. The details are amazing. ^_^ I guess the people who claim that just don't appreciate beautiful art. ^_~
I consider for you all to try the Gravitation series.
Not Murakami's fault.......2004-06-10
First of all, I just ADORE Gravitation. I love the story and the characters, especially Yuki ^_^. I didn't even really have a problem with the previous volumes' translations. However, the translating and editing in book 6 is horrible. The slang almost made me cringe (mainly Ukai's lines), the book repeatedly spelled cell phone, "cel phone", and there were times when the characters would refer to the wrong people (K would say Eiri, when it was Hiro doing the actions).
Despite all these problems, which were mainly in the first act, Gravi 6 is still a good volume. In the first act Bad Luck competes in a cooking competition in order to when a trip to Disneyland. This is one of Murakami-sensai's more crazy story lines, but it's still very funny. The second act is better, focusing on the outing of Yuki and Shuichi's relationship to the public (Yuki's so adorable in this act!) If you can get over the editing problems of the first act and already have the previous volumes, I'd definitly recommend Gravi 6 as well.

Gravitation-the BEST shounen-ai manga ever!!! so dramatic!!!.......2004-05-23
I'll start off by saying that Gravi (short for Gravitation) is by far and away the best manga I've ever read. Period. One note, though. This is defenitely a shounen-ai manga, and if you don't know what that means, I'll help you out. It means Guys Love, as in gay relationships. So all you homophobes out there, this is a major no-no.
Anyway, in case you haven't read Gravi, you really suck. Just kidding. The story is, basicly, an 18 year old singer-Shuichi Shindou(or Shu-chan, as I'll call him)-meets a writer-Eiri Yuki-who trashes Shu-chan's lyrics, and many things happen, like Shu-chan meeting his idol, Shu-chan falling in love with Yuki, Shu-chan moving in with Yuki, Shu-chan losing his virginity (hee-hee), and so on. Before volume 4, the story leaves off with Yuki saying that he's going to end their relationship after Shu-chan goes on a game show, and people start to suspect a connection between the two of them.
So, as not to spoil anything, Taki Aizawa (the lead singer of ASK, a competitive band to Bad Luck, Shu-chan's band) does some really horrible things to Shu-chan, who shows his love for Yuki by putting Yuki's reputation before his own. Yes, volume 4 is a big-time tear jerker. In case you don't know, Shu-chan IS a bit of a crybaby, but to see him really cry is rather, well, heart breaking. I found myself crying 2 or 3 times, every time I read it.
I'm not going to tell you the rest-you're going to have to read it on your own to find out what happens. The characters are phenomenal. They care sooo much for each other, and you will care for them just as much. I cannot stress enough what a great manga this is, so go read it yourself. Please enjoy Gravitation for all it's worth, and tell me if this review helped you or not. To all otaku, peace, love, and anime forever.
Not Funny.......2004-05-17
My first comment; if I ever thought the concept of getting gang-banged was funny, I don't anymore. I'm sorry to spoil it, but it happens to Shuichi by, wouldn't you know it... a group of Aizawa's thugs.
Anyway, this is by far the saddest book in the series so far... I've seen parts of the anime and have been able to piece it up enough to know that it gets much sadder, however, as of now, this is the saddest. I actually found myself starting to cry a few times!
Oh; Shuichi is a crybaby, right? Well, when he really cries; I mean REALLY, not just the 'waaaahhh' kind of crying he does so often; it's tear-inducing. It makes you want to hug him...
Another thing; in this book, Hiro and Eiri meet, and when they do... you see just how great a friend Hiro is, and you're surprised by how much Eiri cares, when it seems like he doesn't. Oh, and Tatsuha is cooler than he seems, too. And Shuichi wears a dress. Yes, that's random, but still...
And there's a really cute side-story too; "A Toast to the Nape of Your Neck". ^_^
I hope everyone likes it! I know I did!
poor shu-chan.......2004-03-07
I have read all of the volume out in English and up to volume 7 in Japanese and as of now, I think 4 is my favorite. There's alot of emotion in it and i really think it's nice!
Shuichi chan!.......2004-02-15
I've read all of the mangas to date (1-4), and I gotta say that this is most definately the darkest of them all. At the end of the last volume, Maki Murakami leaves us hanging with Yuki saying "That will be all she wrote. Sayonara." This volume picks up pretty much exactly where we left off, except that Shu chan is now awake. Yuki tells him to move out, and Shuichi is left sad and confused. The break up effects his singing, of course, which is not good for N-G records, and Sakano is left to try and reason with Yuki. Meanwhile, Taki Aizawa, the lead singer of the rival band ASK, has Shuichi raped and takes pictures to use as blackmail. Shuichi doesn't care about himself, but begs them to leave Yuki alone. Hiro is enraged by what they did to Shu chan, so goes and tells Yuki what happened. It turns out, Yuki does have a heart!! Yay! To make a long story short, we finally get Shuichi to dress up like a school girl, and Ayaka is out of the picture. Also, we finally learn the deep dark secret about Yuki's past. This is a really great manga, but not for those with weak constitutions...whatever that means.... Oh!! And they changed Yuki's brother's name!!! Now I'm confused!!! Do I call him Tatsuha or Tatsuho?!?!

WARNING: MAY CAUSE TOLERANCE OF OTHER HUMAN BEINGS.......2005-02-01
I am surprised by the review below. Allowing young adults, and adults alike, exposure to these shonen-ai and shojou-ai sources provides hope for a more understanding world. This idea of acceptance is an earlier theme in the Gravitation series. Gravitation has opened eyes to different ways of life, and gives identifiable characters to real people through the use of humor. It is the only graphic novel series that I have bought, and it is one of my favorite anime series. Shonen-ai is a genre that I hope will continue to increase in popularity. Shibby;)
Good, but I've there's been better........2005-01-13
In all honestly, I adrore Gravitation but this volume was a slight let down in a way. Starting from here or so, things just start to get a silly. I mean, Gravitation is meant for a few laughs, but this volume just pushes it over the edge a bit.
There is a few cute scenes with Yuki and such in them and it opens quite a few new possibilities but some of the less important scenes tend to get in the way.
The artwork is changed a little bit if you dig through it and you can tell where the artist changed a few things here and there. I'm quite fond of the artwork still though, compared to the artwork during the first book.
The volume is good and I wasn't too disappointed but the earlier books were, in my opinion, better plot wise.
Where Reiji-sama reigns supreme.......2005-01-02
Well, this is Gravitation and I'd be surprised if you read the first 8 volumes and then suddenly stopped.
In any case, Reiji remains a main character and actually has a few cuter moments. There's more mass destruction and more insane hilarity in this volume that we've (hopefully) come to love. If you're entertained by Gravitation's humor, you will not be dissapointed. However, I wish there had been more of a focus on Yuki and Shuichi's relationship and I must admit that I despise Shuichi's blond hair.
On the up side, the artwork in this volume surpasses all the previous ones. I'm impressed with the shading and several other points which I won't spoil.
Viva la Gravitation!
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!.......2004-12-17
I stand by my title, it was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! I loved every minute of it--and Reiji-sama too! I love crazy chicks! lol

Good plot, bad art.......2005-05-19
The plot behind Gravitation is lovely, don't get me wrong. The anime, however, is the best way to go. The manga, frankly, has horrible artwork. It makes me wince to see the artwork, because I was hoping to buy the manga, and I was expecting to see the characters looking the same as in the anime. If you can, watch the anime, and do not buy the manga.
Omg It was good.......2005-03-14
Bascailly i have read gravitation one though 6 and i love them all. RIght now i am waiting to buy 7-10 but hey ya gotta love the series
pretty good.......2004-04-14
This series is really pretty good. But the third volume (which I bought impulsively in an airport bookstore) is awesome! It has the same kind of humor throughout. It kind of [absorbs] you in. I was a little less squeamish reading this one than the second volume... there was less of the guy on guy stuff. It is a very fun read. I recommend it if you can stomach it.
Get ready to rock!.......2004-01-31
I loved this book, I'm already a fan but it just gets better.
The part I really liked is when Bad Luck go on the game show and Hiro answers all the questions with ease, the look on ASKs faces is so funny.
I also like the fact that Tatsuya comforts Shuichi when he talks about no meaning much to Yuki as a lover and how he can't compare to a fiance.
The end is the worst Yuki is gonna dump Shuichi , I feel so sorry for him but it's cool that he knows something bad has happened to Yuki coz of his sleeping face.
I can't wait for the next novel!!

Good, But Not The Best.......2005-02-19
If you are reading this I am assuming that you have read Gravitation volumes 1-9, so I won't do an overview on the rest of the series.
Volume 10 of Gravitation was, in my opinion, as step up from the last two. I'm not a big fan of the whole New York escapade, (Even though it does give you a better insight on Eiri) and I was rather glad when it ended in this volume. I was also happy to see the return of Ryuichi, who had been absent in the last few volumes, as I find him to be one of the most entertaining characters in the series.
A few things it did not like: Rage simply gets on my nerves. Most people would not continue stalking an obviously gay guy, but nevertheless Reiji persists, getting rather irritating after a while. Also, too much of Tohma being evil. He's really being painted as the bad guy of the story, but judging from what we know about him he really shouldn't be this much of a bad guy.
In short, though volume 10 was certainly entertaining, I'm hoping that the last two volumes will be even better.
Disappointment.......2005-02-18
I have loved this series, but the last 2 volumes haven't been lived up to the promise of the preceding ones. Volume 10, in particular, was disjointed and repetitive. Frankly, I think the series would have been much better if it had been compressed into 8 or 9 volumes. The multitude of side stories and plot twists are making me lose interest. Too many of the characters look alike, which makes the action and dialogue difficult to follow.
I'm sure I'll finish reading the entire series, but I don't think I'll look on it as favorably as I once used to.
Gravitation Vol.10........2005-02-13
If You are looking at this product you have probably read 1-9 of the gravitation series and are looking for a better summary of the manga than the back of the book provides. Because tokyopop actually highlighted something quite small in the occurances in this manga. What I saw as the main point, although this the kind of book of Gravitation that had so much little things going on... The main point was that bad lucks management team(Mr.K and Mr.Sakano) has a shocking change that will effect alot of things. Bad luck has to release 3 albums in three weeks, and that of course changes thanks to Tohma, which by the way Tohma has a really big emotional change in here as well. And probably the last thing important to the gravitation story is a look on Yuki and what has been happening to him lately. Other than that a visit from ark and miako(maiko) as a little side story.
alright, all in all this manga was extremely good, but it wasnt the GODLY BEST of all the issues so thats why i give it a four, I'd give it a 4.5 if that was available ^^; because gravitation holds true to it's comedy, and to it's sadness. so bye bye for now.
